Monckton vs. Littlemore Debate audio

The much anticipated radio debate between Christopher Walter(the Third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley), a global warming skeptic and Richard Littlemore, a global warming alarmist took place just a while ago on the Roy Green show on the Corus Network.

Despite the 24X7 saturation coverage of this issue by the media, mostly in scary, apocalyptic terms, there actually has been very little of a face to face debate between those who fervently believe in man-made climate change and those who are skeptical of it in one way or another.
Here is the debate in four parts(note-the fourth part is listener's phone-in's)

If for some reason you are not able to play the audio or any part out of the four then visit the podcast page here(part 1), here(part 2), here(part 3), here(part 4), or here(main podcast page).

An interesting discovery from the debate and the post-debate conversation(in part 4) was that the moderator, Roy Green himself and some of the listeners who phoned in were more open minded about the issue than the highly-paid millionaire hacks of the mainstream media whose job it is to be objective.

Well worth a listen.

Update- The AGW alarmists at the Littlemore's site, desmogblog, are not pleased with his performance and were going into panic during the debate. A sample-
...at the moment it seems Littlemore's being led around by Green and Monckton. Take back control! Take back control!

Score this one for the skeptics-
I'd have to say that Monckton "won" the debate. He came across as more prepared and had answers at his fingertips, whereas Richard appeared to verbally stumble on occasion. I agree completely with the point Richard made that it is difficult to properly discuss the science in such a format. That being said, my take would be that a number of newcomers to the subject would easily be inclined to side with Monckton and Mr. Green because of the eloquence of Monckton (not realizing that you can be eloquent but still wrong).

No wonder the alarmists so often refuse to debate the skeptics. Even the Imperial Lord Master of Global Warming, the Ever Wise Al Goracle, is wary of this pesky band of rebels.

Update 2 - Richard Littlemore admits defeat

Update 3 -The Heartland Institute has the transcript of the debate

Update 4 -UH-OH! This blog has been struck by the great BOLT of lightening!

Update 5 -This is actually an appeal. While several sites have donate buttons, somehow I never got around to it. However you may help this blog (and me!) by purchasing one of my artworks. This will not only help in keeping this blog going (one of the few anti-alarmist sites in this part of the world) but also encourage good art, help me fight the post-modern ugliness that struts itself as 'High Art' and help me chuck my lifetime STAR ASS card.(STAR ASS =STarving ARtists ASSociation). You may get my perspective on art at What the Heck is Art? You may browse my art works here and buy them directly through me or through India Art Collectors. OK, sales pitch over.

Hey Comrade Al Goreski when are you going to have the intestinal fortitude to debate Lord Monckton? My bet is never, he is to scared his socialist agenda will be exposed!

Frankbi blamed the loss of the debate on 'Gish Gallop', in which the opponent "provides as many false claims as his alloted time will allow, knowing that his opponents will have to debunk each of his claims, one by one. This way, his opponents will have no time left to present their own points."
Please. Just take your toys and go home then.

It's a fact that, regardless of "truth" or whatever, liberals believe man made global warming is real and to disagree with "them" means you're simply no good and should not be allowed to exist. Global Warming has become a religion to most of the left and can not see anything else. As I said, "truth" does not matter when it comes to your "religion".

Once more, Global Warming is soundly debunked as the Warmers slouch away with their tails between their legs.

Mr. Littlemore appears,in my opinion, to be totally uneducated with anything beyond the official party line. He should expand his horizons a little and add some World History to his awareness. He is asking us to rewrite almost all of it.

Truly a sad showing for the catastrophers.

Did you catch how many adjectives he used(catastrophic, etc.)...not a sign of scientific knowledge. Any outcome not a "castastrophy" loses him all credibility. Even the IPCC is backing off of catastrophism. Keep an eye on it and watch the credibility of the warmers fade away to the junk heap of unsupportable bad science and "chicken little" PR.

In rare open debates between warmists and actual scientists, the warmists seem to always lose. Badly.

And they always come up with some excuse about the format, or the tactics of their competitors, or the stupidity of the audience.

Recall the debate in Manhattan last summer at the Asia Society. Follow the link below for details - in summary, in just a couple hours the audience went from being overwhelmingly warmist to overwhelmingly skeptical.

Piltdown Warming is a fact! Anyone denying it is an anti-semite and a child sexual predator in the pay of multi-national corporations.

The planet is doomed if we do not immediately empower and grow government to a size large enough to control everything and everyone that might produce CO2. We need massive tax funding and global legislation to meet this emergency.

Humans are nasty. We must have a zero tolerance policy!!

The debate is over. Action now!

John Reading,

You had me in stitches...I nearly fell off my perch...

I might add, that we need to support Enviromental Green Gay Rights for Land Whales who live in danger of drowning, as result of the sea levels rising.

The only chance we have of saving these poor creatures, is to give all our money and property to Greenpeace and the IPCC.

Cheers

great piece and I agree that Lord Monckton was far more eloquent and that he "won" the debate I have added a post to my own blog linking to the pod cast.

Now that the Earth is cooling and the polar ice caps have increased radically over the past year, we see that the scientists (NIPCC) were right and that global warming is not anthropogenic (manmade). Don't get me wrong; not being wasteful, using less oil, building smaller homes (no more McMansions)etc. etc...we should strive to achieve these things. Teaching our kids that CO2 is dangerous is of course ludicrous. The Medievel warm period happened without industry. This brief warming period in Earth's history was a natural cycle due to solar variation. When politicinas interfere with science, you basically get non-science.

What the Goracle, IPCC, and others have managed to do is to make many people avoid doing some critical thinking on this climate debate.

People need to do their own research.
The alarmist's argument hedges on the simplistic "carbon dioxide traps heat" notion instead of critically considering the Earth's climate system as a whole. Research from NIPCC, etc. indicate that our knowledge of Earth's climate system is far from complete.

The alarmists central argument, that carbon dioxide acts as a pollutant, explains very little about the behavior of our climate.ate.

I believe it is this stage of the game, we need not think that people with solid arguments backed by a reality in which we are involved us by the capitalist culture of the countries we are being deceived or selling something that no global warming es.El is just around the corner and depends on state policies in different countries.

Wow, when Christopher Monckton spoke about Desmogblogs funding and where it came from, that was eye opening. And it stumped the guy at the heart. He was stuttering after that.

Monckton made this guy look like a stammering drunk.

Well, again the world proves itself totally insane. Having a Public Relations individual and a man who is on record thinking people with aids should be interned DEBATE CLIMATE CHANGE proves just how whacky this world is wobbling. I'll stick with science journals and talking to real scientists (and I do know about 2 dozen of them personally), and I'm going to take one BIG step away from the dog and pony show political hacks have created out of this.
