Did I, did I?

No, I did not!

So here goes -

A very happy new year to all decent souls on this earth.

fireworks2 fireworks

And to all the readers of this blog -Yes, I love you!

flowes for you

Bracing for yet another year

A modern, non-rhyming poem (actually just ungrammatical sentences with line breaks) expressing my sentiments on the new year-

yet another year comes
in a long gone age it used to 'cometh'
now it just plain comes
I'm a little older
a little sadder
a little wiser(maybe)
and I'm not sure
whether to welcome it
or to brace for it

The poetry is bad but the sentiment is genuine-my natural instinct is not to rejoice but to bunker down. In fact I feel like a Tennesse Williams poem, in particular this one, which left a deep impact when I first read it many years ago. Here are a couple of stanzas-

And still the ripe fruit and the branch
Observe the sky begin to blanch
Without a cry, without a prayer,
With no betrayal of despair.

O Courage, could you not as well
Select a second place to dwell,
Not only in that golden tree
But in the frightened heart of me?

The whole lovely piece here.

LIBERTY NEWS CENTRAL- best plums of freedom

After much pain and tribulations, the LIBERTY NEWS CENTRAL portal is now fully online. It as- as the blurb says- a site of the choicest handpicked news and views for freedom lovers, with daily updates.

I have attempted to give it an oldish, nostalgic about the 19th century kinda archaic look  - so it is in black, gray and white as if in an old journal that might well have come out of a small town out in the wild west. Here are a couple of screenshots-

However like a sharp tickle of lemon in a drink, there is color but with a twist. Do check it out. And regularly.

And if you like it, please consider supporting it with a small donation -although we won't mind a large one either.

Guru Dutt and Bhagat Singh

The lovely Mrs. LNC noticed this immediately(so much for my roving artist's eye): the similarity in the appearance of Guru Dutt and Bhagat Singh-

Guru Dutt and Bhagat Sing
I think Guru Dutt would have made a fine Bhagat Singh on film.

Also at the same bookshop-small minds think alike(translation: two totalitarians find the same unimaginative title for their autobiographies)-

The Durga Puja ends finally

Durga idol immersion
Durga idol immersion
The Durga Puja ends finally with thousands gathering at the banks of Yamuna, Delhi to immerse the Durga idols.
More photos here.

Unfortunately not very far from where I was, a tragedy was taking place-
At least nine persons were feared drowned during immersion of a Goddess Durga idol into the Yamuna at Burari here on Thursday
For some reason the religious gatherings in India too often end up in an accident.
